Volunteer for the MLK Day of Service!
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 18, 2021, is the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
We have a couple of volunteer opportunities if you'd like to participate in this day of service:
For the Love of the Lake Foundation - Shoreline Spruce Up at White Rock Lake on Jan. 18th at 1:00 PM
Meet at Winfrey Point on Monday, Jan 18th at 1:00 PM. Everyone must sign a waiver and bring it with them. If you'd like to participate in this volunteer opportunity, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you the waiver. To participate, you must wear a mask and practice social distancing from people outside your "pod". Disposable gloves must also be worn. If you plan on bringing someone with you who is under the age of 18, the parent must sign the waiver for that child. __________________________________________________________________________________
Paul Quinn College Donation Opportunity
We are collecting items for Paul Quinn College as part of our MLK Day of Service. Items needed are:
Non-perishable food and snacks
Bed linens (we are verifying that Twin XL is the required size)
Gift cards for Students - Sam's club was suggested
Cash donations also accepted here: http://www.pqc.edu/invest/
Items can be dropped off this week at Kristy's house at 9821 Estacado. If you are donating gift cards or cash, please place in an envelope and put in the mail slot at Kristy's house. Other items may be left on her porch.
OR alternatively, you can meet us at Winfrey Point on Jan. 18th at 12:45 PM with your donations. We plan to take a photo with other FEDDs who are volunteering for the lake cleanup. Then a small group of FEDDs will drive to Paul Quinn to drop off the donations.
Thanks in advance to all of you for your service!
