FEDDS Education Series - Gerrymandering

April 20th - at 6:30 p.m.  on Zoom

Join us for our monthly education meeting, this time focused on Partisan Gerrymandering.

Issues leader Joan Ridley is hosting and presenting on this important topic. Joan writes and speaks on voting issues, especially the impact of gerrymandering, money in politics, redistricting, and, how other states design their independent redistricting commissions. She leads discussion groups about the various options and how Texas could design an independent redistricting commission.

Joan is a Deputy Voter Registrar, actively campaigned during the primaries and general elections in 2008, 2016 and 2018, and worked at the polls during early voting and election day in November, 2018. She is an active member of League of Women Voters, having served on the Program and Voter’s Guide Committees. She is also an active member of Independent Texas Redistricting, Common Cause, American Promise, WOW Dems and the FEDDs.

We will talk about:

  • What it is Partisan Gerrymandering?

  • The impact it has on elections and on our lives?

  • What you can do to change it?

  • Why we need to take action NOW?

Email Whitney Wolf (redwolf8@swbell.net) in advance of the meeting with any questions you would like answered.
